I am trying to plan my trip to bike week in may. What are some good hotels to stay at?? I was considering myrtle beach resorts they seem to have good prices and good security and parking for trailers and bikes. Its located on south kings highway. Does anyone know about this place, if its decent and what its close to. Any help would be appreciated
I was sent some reviews of places recently. I haven't stayed at any of these myself, but this came from a reliable source. Take it as you will.
THE BREAKERS - couple of different buildings so make sure you know which one you are making reservations at. Great location - really close to Broadway at the Beach. Beds are hard as a rock tho - if you are trailering, bring a thick mattress pad...or really good sleep meds.
EL DORADO - yup - this was the regular place we stayed back in the day when you drank so much the night before, you rarely turned on the lights so you couldn't see all the little bugs scattering away. Does have a great location and is cheap. Good for the younger crew just looking to party.
SHERATON/CONVENTION CENTER - love this place, the most comfiest beds around (can you tell i like to sleep?) Plus with the convention center next door - your best bet for trailer parking. A bit pricey but worth it.
BEST WESTERN - they told us they had plenty of trailer parking then forced us to back my nice clean trailer back into the mud/grass. just a major pain in the ***. Rooms were very average - decent location - their security guy was always smokin' a joint so doubt he was really watching the bikes much. I'd pass....
Myrtle Beach Resort has bike and trailer parking away from the condos, so plan on walking to your bike. I stayed there for many years until security became a PIA. Expect long lines when checking in. I quit going after several friend I was with had a bunch of stuff stolen off of their bikes. You can get better rates booking through an owner instead of the resort. You can find this on vrbo.com. The last couple of years I stayed at the Days Inn in Surfside. Very Biker friendly and bikes are parked under hotel out of weather. Its nicer than most Days Inn and is right next to the Surfside Pier which has a great beakfast place called Nibbles. I don't know about trailer parking since I ride down, but I have seen trailers there.
I'll second that vote for the Days Inn in Surfside! That's where we've stayed the last few times we've been down for the spring and fall rallies. It's close tolots of stuff like SBB and if you want to drink and crawl back to your room there are a couple of bars next door and across the street! And Nibbils is one of our favorite places to eat!
Thanks for all the help I think I settled on Camelot by the Sea a friend of mine stayed there a few weeks ago and said it was a really nice place. They have off site trailer parking but have bike parking in their garage.
We always stay at Sea Mist. They really have great security and a good bike wash. If you trailor, they have a place to put your trailor over on the other side of Hwy 17 out of the way in a secure area. Rates vary depending on which side of the street you stay on. I highly recommend them. We've stayed with them spring and fall for several years.
