I'm new to the forum and new to motorcycles in general. Does NC require an annual inspection of motorcycles? If so, can you get it done at a regular shop that does inspections or do you have to go to a motorcycle specific place? Is an emissions test required?

Thanks
Hi and welcome to the forum. NC does require an annual safety inspection for all motor vehicles, including motorcycles. I don't know of any regular inspection stations that do motorcycles, but there may be some. Most motorcycle dealers' service departments are authorized state inspection stations and many independent shops are too. I'm sure you could call ahead to make sure before you went if your visit is just to get an inspection.
Motorcycles are exempt from the emissions test in NC.
My experiences with vehicle inspections has been a joke. I took a car once just to have it fail, so I could have 90 days to comply. Had a broke windshield, bad brakes and lights, horn didn't work and emergency brake cable was broke. they passed the car.
