I have read that it is a class 2 misdemeanor to have one . I am wondering if the cops really give you a had time for having one. Anyone with personal experience with it?
Not really a problem in NC, but I have known a guy cited in TN for it. They had Super Sargeant Trooper in East TN who hated bikes. Ticketed me for a DOT approved helmet because the liner was glued in instead of sewn. Didn't say a word to wife in a novelty. Go to court, 5 guys with bogus tickets, same asshat, all thrown out.
In Louisiana, an Antique plate has a few perks: lifetime registration (no annual registration fee) and no need for annual inspection sticker.
No limitation on usage or mileage. Its worth the small upfront fee for sure.

What is the source for this?
I'm in NC and have my plate mounted vertically. It keeps it tucked in right behind my soft bags and keeps everything clean looking (in my opinion). I've never had an issue with it, but I'm not sure that I've ever had a cop follow me enough that they would have time to notice it.
