Default Adjustable push rod problems

Adjustable push rod problems. Ok so I was adjusting push rods on a 95 heritage . I turned motor over to front cylinder tdc took and adjusted exhaust push rod to zero lash marked my push rods . Push rods im using are 25 threads per inch so im adjusting push rods out 2.5 turs or 15 flats and i her a snap noise didnt know what it was figuring a broken lifter . So now when I set pushrod to zero lash when i try to adjust 2.5 turns the pushrod comes apart befor reaching it . Any help would be appreciated . I am hoping not just a broken lifter and not the cam but i guess i will have to tear into it to find out .

Lane; Something ain't right. You've stated the obvious. Tear it apart and what ever went wrong will reveal itself. You tell us. It could be a myriad of individual things. But likely one single thing went wrong. Don't turn that engine over in the meantime.

First of all, you may wanna post this over in the Engine Tech section of the forum.

Second, I'm pretty sure your adjustable pushrods are two different lengths. Depending on whether you use them in the exhaust or intake valve.

Look up the instructions and double check.

You also shouldn't be turning over your engine during adjustment. You should have your rear tire off the ground, bike in the highest gear, plugs out and manually rotate the tire.
