I am wondering how to go about adjusting my shifter pedal?
I know the brake side of my controls isn't adjustable, but my shifter foot control seems to be adjustable, i.e. the rod is threaded on both ends and has two nuts locking the rod.
When I loosen both bolts I can't seem to rotate the rod. I know the are opposite thread but the rod isn't moving either way.
What I am essentially trying to do is pull the shifter pedal up(or towards the rear of the bike), so I have to lengthen the rod.
I just got riding boots, which are a lot taller then anything I rode in before, so there isn't much room to slide my foot out and downshift. I'm trying to make a little more room for the new boot.
Loosen the shaft all of the way off and then start to thread it into the bike first then into the peddle. You will have to play with it to get it to your liking. Tighten the nuts back up when you get it where you want it.
Thanks Tex, got it to move a little bit, but since the threads on the rod are painted, it won't unscrew all the way. Could I strip the thread by forcing it or will it just take the paint off and should let me unscrew the bolt all the way?
Is there a stopping point or if I keep spinning it will it eventually unscrew from one side? Also does it make the rod "weaker/unsafe" the longer I make it?
I adjusted it a little but it doesn't really feel like it did too much, would like to get a little more.
