I have a 08 1200c. When I got the bike in 2010, it had 8k miles on it and everything was stock.

I put a new breather on it, and a race tuner on her. They bike seemed to run a lot better and had gained a few extra horse power. The bike was running great. Then some time in 2011 the fuel pump went out on me. So I took the bike to a mechanic ( this was before I learned how to work on it myself). $425.00 later I had my bike fixed. So now, within the last 8 months I've noticed my bike does not have the same punch to it like it use to. I was thinking I needed to have it retuned. Then last week I was reading the forms, and someone mentioned the error codes. So after doing some research I found out how to get my codes and what they mean. No surprise I had 4 codes all fuel related. So I'm thinking when the guy replaced my fuel pump he never reset the codes. So I reset the codes, and rode the bike for a few days and checked the codes again. No error messages.
However since I reset the codes my bike is running 1000% better! I'm now crazing at 50-65 mph in 4th gear and the bike is happy, happy, happy. To were before I would be in 5th gear to Cruz at that speed. Does this make any sense to you guys?
Sorry to be so long winded, but I could not be any happier with the way she's running.
Who knows what goes on in the wonderful world of motorcycle computer programs but I wouldn't be surprised if the presence of some fault codes the computer automatically cuts back on fueling or timing advance or something, probably would be a good idea to check and clear codes once a year or so just in case.
Technically speaking only errors that are still present should affect running (possibly put the ECM into limp-home mode). But then again, I'm not using stock ECM so I have no experience with stock HD software.
