I get it now: your Iron isn't equipped with keyless ignition.
I'm not sure if it can be retrofitted, or (like ABS) it has to be factory installed.
I don't believe this to be true. If I have two exactly the same sportster's side by side one keyless and one keyed, and i start swapping parts, eventually once I've swapped enough or "the right parts" the one that was keyed, will be keyless. It's just a matter of figuring out the right parts. If they were side by side I could probably figure it out. My hunch is that there is a jumper on the keyless bike for the connection where there would normally be a key, and then the bcm is programmed to have the kill switch turn the bike on and off, but I don't know enough about the electronics of the bike to know that for sure. The reason I think that is because the wiring diagram in the service manual doesn't have a different wiring harness for a keyless bike.
You can remove the keyed ignition switch and replace it with a switch. You would lose ACC function though unless you found a switch that supported that. Give me a week or so and I'll post if what I have planned will work. I'm going to have to fab a mounting point for the switch I ordered and it should be the best solution. I'm waiting to release information till I have it functioning or it could be pointless for someone to read through all the writ-ups on it and then it not work... I'm also going to post it under a new thread when I get it complete should it work.
