I had a couple lawnmower engine mini bikes when I was a kid,but the first street machine was a 1981 suzuki gs650.It wasnt a craockrocket though. It looked alot like a sporty except for the in-line 4 cylinder.Same style bike. That bike was CRAZY FAST.Scared myself a few times on it.I was 22 when I got it and have been on 2 wheels since.
I learned to ride in 1971, at the age of 12, on a Honda Mini trail 50. Then got my first street bike, a Honda 100, and my "motor driven cycle" license in 1973.
I don't have a pic of a Honda 100, but I did come across a picture of a Mini Trail 50 that is identical to my first bike.
Rode some dirt bikes as a kid. The first bike I had was an Indian, can't remember the size. I then rode my aunt's Honda 175 fora while. Put the bike riding on hold for a LONG time. Then enrolled in the MSF course last September.Went thru the course on the Suzuki 250s, then bought my Sporty in October.
Age 7 - Honda 50 mini bike - went through multiple 2 and 4 wheel dirts.
Age 33 - Honda Shadow 500 - 1st street bike
Age 38 (present day)- 2002 Harley Sporster1200 Custom
grew up on mopeds. in 2000 i was unlicensed and wanted a bike bad. found a smoking deal on a 95 suzuki rf600r. got to the guys house, we was hung over and tired. he gave me the keys after i explained i'd never rode and said to go drive around the neighborhood and see if you like it, i loved it! after an hour i gave him the keys and drove my car to dmv and got a permit. came back a few hours later and had him drive it to my house. drove around my neighborhood for about an hour and after that i went just about everywhere except for the interstate. that took a month to hit the interstate.
took the test at dmv a month after getting the permit and i was done.
rf600r was quite powerful, was a 600cc water cooled inline 4 with 100 factory hp at the crank. bike could get up and go. kept that for a few years then got a 74 cb750, it was not fast, but it was a great bike. now have a 87 sporster with 1200 conversion, 10:1 compression, etc....bike moves ok, but will probably get a v max over the winter since the wife won't let me get another sportbike/crotch rocket.
My first MC was a Yamaha Enduro 125cc that was passed on to me from my dad when I was 14 yrs old. MAN! I must have put a billion hours on that thing!!!
