Default Accidents

Anyone ever had an accident that think God they have lived to tell about it. Mine happened a couple of years ago on my first 883,a drunk driver crossed into my lane knocked me up on the curb, luckily I just sprained my knee, and dislocated my shoulder.

Yes, way back in 1982 when I was 19-years-old I rode drunk with a girl on the back. I took a curve way too fast and the next thing I knew both the girl and Iwere being put into the back of ambulances. She hurt her ankle pretty bad and cut the back of her head. I broke my arm and had many bad bruises, but that was it. We were very fortunate.

I don't drink at all now, but even if I did, I can't imagine being as stupid as I was back then and riding my bike drunk. Back then I did it frequently.

Got hit by a car riding behind my boyfriend of the day back in 1986. I was not wearing a helmet and the ambulance driver said it was a good thing because I would have broken my neck and not survived. I ended up with my jaw broken in 3 places and lost the left side of my face and almost lost my left eye. I have a few scars but I also now have my MC endorsment and no longer ride behind. It was on an 86 Sporty and my friend I wrecked with is the one who sold me my 89 1200 Sporty.

Funny how life comes at you

I wiped out on a Yamaha RD 350A once. 'Lost it in a turn when I hit some gravel. 'Still have a scar on my elbow some 30+ years later.

'Probably one of the best things that ever happened to me; taught me to be more careful.

'Course I wiped out numerous times on my MX's and I think on my Enduros as well.

Those RD's were fast little 2 stroke twins, yes sir ree.

I think it was in 1974 I was riding my Yamaha RD250. A guy in a pickup made a sudden right turn right in front of me. I T-boned his truck. The amazing thing was that my body made no contact with the truck! I just sailed right over the top of it and landed aways down the street and rolled to a stop with nothing but a few bruises!

A friend of mine lost it on his RD 350 as well. Seems the high school we went to decided to put a chain across one of the main entry ways in one morning, and it was early in the morning and the way in faced due east and he was wearing a full coverage helmet and he was probably 'feelin' good' as well, ahem, and well, the rest is not too hard figure it out.

He hit it with his chest, and had it been a little higher, well, he probably would have lost his, er, 'helmet'.

Yesterday, I was riding to work at 6.45 am. About a mile from where I work is a little store that sits right off the four lane. I was doing about 55 to 60 mph when I saw a car sitting at the entrance waiting to pull out. I slowed down to 50 mph and was watching the car, just when I thought they seen me and everything was cool, they pull out SLOW in front of me. All I could do is hit the back breaks, I slid the rear tire 43 yards and then the rear started to come around so I let off the break and almost lost it again from the bike jerking back around. When I pulled up beside her at 5 mph, she rolled down the window and said " Sorry ". I gave her a thumbs up and went on. Thats the closest I have come to a wreck on pavement. I was beyond mad. Had to go buy a new tire because of the flat spot from locking down the rear.

I was hit by a car on 11Nov1992 while mountain biking. I wasn't on a MC, but getting hit by a car is still getting hit by a car...it SUCKS! I was heading to a trail down the side of a road and a car going probably about 60 didn't clear me. I rolled up on the hood, the windshield, and over the back of the car only to bounce down the road like Wiley E. Coyote on my tail. No helmet - I now wear a helmet all the time, even on my mountain bike. All I did was dislocate my wrist and all the skin on my ARS was gone. If anyone ever says they feel like they've been hit by a truck (car); they have no idea until it's actually happened to them.
