Default Ignition Module ?

Ok just curious here, given the problem of high heat at the ignition module location, and frequent of them failing due to the heat, I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to relocate the module to a cooler location on the bike. 03 sportster xl1200c. Like some where near the battery away from the heat?

I think it has to be there to pick up a signal from the end of the crank doesn't it? if so, how about adding some ventilation to the location? you could build a custom cover out of wire mesh or drill some holes in your cover with some mesh or screen behind the holes to keep crap out.
