Default 2002 Speedo

Top of the morning,

I've had my 2007 XL1200Low for a little over a month now and whilst it's been 10 years since riding (and then only sports bikes) I've enjoyed getting used to it...

Sooooooo.....the things I love. I love the original chrome...not OTT but shiny in all the right places. Since popping the baffles I love the sound and the riding position. I'm used to more grunt but I do love the bottom end torque so I'll be removing the baffles completely, air filter, stage 1 without a cog switch.

I HATE the ride...it feels like my coxis is broken after an hour of riding. What is the deal?? and what is the best remedy please? Seat? Shocks? giant f**king cushion?!? Honestly...I've sat on more comfortable concrete floors. Actually, that's an insult to concrete floors...every time I see a bump I find myself saying a little pre-emptive prayer before impact.

I've changed my handlebars to adjust my position yet I'm practically seconds away from throwing my toys out the pram...how can something that looks to comfortable create such pain?

If there is a solution, I'll be ordering it up with a load of parts for my 2 weeks summer prep blitz. One of which is I'm not too keen on the standard speedo, would a 2002 sportster speedo cluster go straight on?

Thanks for the help and rant..

RL

2002 speedo will not fit. 2007 is EFI, completely different electrical system.

If it has forward controls, mids will help get some of the weight off your tailbone. Seat & shocks, front and rear will help. Stop every hour and give your *** a break, a Cadillac it is not.

Brilliant, thanks for the positive advice. I've dug deeper and found a lot of people have a similar problem and find changing to 412's on the rear improve this dramatically. I've been on to order them yet am being given measurements like 11/11.5/12/12.5 etc and have been confused a little 😖

The low rear shocks are harsh. Not enough travel to do anything. The best two mods to get your butt to feel better will be a new set of shocks (12.5" or above to get the better ride if you do progressive) and a new seat (I recommend Mustang, it made the world of a difference on mine).
