My Niece is looking at a 2012 883 Sporty Superlow. it has it only has 900 miles on it and it is at their local dealership. While I had a 883 hugger a few years ago I am not real familiar with this bike.
Looking for any info that you folks can provide about this bike good and bad. Thanks in advance.
I can't comment on one as such as my sportster is an '89.
But from what I've read, modern sportsters are quite the business. Even UK journalists are known to give them a decent review these days!!
It's a modern Sportster that has been lowered, and the model caters mainly to women.
Almost anything you can do to any other Sportster, you can do to the Superlow. Bump it up to a 1200/1250, pipes, seats, and everything else. Dependable like most Sportsters.
One women at work has one and loves it. Her Husband rides a Dyna model.
Regardless of what others will say. It is NOT just a ladies bike. Some of us are just a tad shorter than others...or not nearly as <ahem> heavy as others. If you, lady or man, fit into the smaller human category....the Superlow is a great bike. I do wish it had more power from stock...but that can be fixed.
Like Guzzi said, there are lots of options for the Sportster line and LOTS of aftermarket parts and accessories.
I must confess after owning mine for a year now, I do wish I had bought either the 1200 custom or the Dyna Lowrider.
Good choice , excellent for smaller riders.
I traded in a Touring bike for my '48 , easier to handle and much more fun.
Can't go wrong with a sporty.
Mick
I had a '95 sporty and traded for a 2012 Superlow. They are night and day. The rubbermounted superlow gives a much smoother ride. Many people here have them. I'm seeing more and more on other forums too. I got great gas mileage on mine. Give one a test ride.
She will love that super low. I have a 48 myself but the super low is one of the bikes I like sitting on at the dealership all the time. It's easy to handle and rides pretty smooth. The stock seat that comes with it is comfy and the seating position is too - bars slung back for a more upright position. The tank is also a 4.5 gallon one and has the most capacity for any Sportster. Slap a windshield on it and you've got a semi-long distance cruiser!
