i did not have to adjust the belt on mine - it sits almost the same hieght , maybe a little bit lower the way it is now - it wasnt much of a change so i didnt have to ---- if you raise the bike also, you need to check it as well ..

unless u reallllllly raise or lower the scoot alot u should not have any issues.
you will know the first ride you take if you have an issue .. but to be sure when and if you fit the shocks - just check the belt the correct way , dont try to eyeball it or measure it - use the correct tool to do it..

Thanks elfnyc looks like I will be purchasing some shocks. I'm going to be buying DKs 1.75" lowering block since I didn't see a 2" block for a sportster.

Thanks to a fellow member ‘Wavy48’ I was able to put on some RK shocks part no. 54565-97B over the weekend. He included a 1” lowering block which helped out since I’m only 5’5” but I still ordered DK’s 1.75” lowering blocks because of the height change and I want my feet to be more flat on the ground instead of being on my toes. As of right now I have them at 0 PSI and took them out for about a 1.5 hr. ride on side streets and the highway and man oh man what a difference good difference of course. I might be bumping them up to 5 PSI being that I’m 195 lbs. and I think it’s suggested that they be at 5 PSI for 200 lbs. and above see if that gives me even a smoother ride.

@DD85,

Thanks for this link. So have you rode with the new shocks? Thoughts? What P/N did you get at 12"? I don't have a height issue so I could go with a longer shock but am hung up on the geometry issue. Will the belt need adjusted if 12" or 13" air shock vs. the stock coil over 11"s that are on my 2013 1200C now?

ALSO the comment that if your light you may not feel a difference? I'm at 165lbs but geared up and 2 up with wife - I'd hope any air shocks will be a plus. SURE I get it won't be like my UC but I'd like to smooth out the Sportie a little without breaking the bank.

I picked up a pamphlet on the Progressives...WOW $$$. And I don't hear much good vs. going OEM air shocks from another HD.

Thoughts?

FUNNY - I got the washers...and I have the separate valves...but I have not pulled the trigger on shocks yet.

SORRY - re-read and you didn't do 12's...you did 13's and lower blocks. So I'm looking for a P/N for 12". Anyone???

wachuko,

I did try a search and did not find the link you provided. I found this "one" but that's it and DD85 gave me the same link as well.

THANK YOU for the GREAT INFO and writeup/outline. Now I have some great reading to do. I appreciate you taking the time to reply!

Ride safe!

@GMRO I installed part # 54565-97B which are 13" and DKs 1.75" lowering kit. If you don't put a lowering kit you will see a significant raise to the tail of the bike which I did not want because it changes the look of the bike. With the lowering blocks the seat height is at about 28".

I want to say that I've put in about 300-400 miles on these already and what a difference. GREAT improvement from stock shocks. They definitely absorb the bumps on the road much better. You can try and find some shocks from fellow members here on the classifieds section. If anyone is trying to charge you $100+ check this Harley website where you can buy the shocks I got for $128 w/ free shipping.

PULL THE TRIGGER AND GET THEM ALREADY. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

the belt should be fine , the weight will not be an issue - im 150 wet lol it made a huuuuge change for me - im not worried about the rodeo feeling anymore haha - it really glides over the bumps - i have mine set with 0psi
and if need be i can crank them up with a small harley pump in my bag..

i also have 2 vales instead of the hose and single air valve to pump them up i like it better that way ... i also had progressives, i had burlys , and i had the legends air suspension when i first purchased the bike, progressives were no change to me really , the burlys was bad for me, almost like rigid ouch
the legends were awsome, but i didnt like the look of the shocks and air lines so they were sold .. these are by far the best shocks for me at least.. weight wont make a differ , im lighter then you and they work awsome

the longer the shock the better travel they will have - the better ride you will have mine are 13 with lowering blocks, again as i said before in previous post somewhere - it makes it the same height as stock so its not a big change for me

Guess it opinion. Im 170 and they were no improvement over stock, once I lowered them they were a little better than stock. Most (not all) lighter guys Ive read about using these have the same experience as I.

Hey guys I have the 12" premium hand adjustable shocks off of my 2015 street glide special, with less then 1000 miles on them. I upgraded to the Ohlins hd 022 shocks from Howard at motorcyclemetals... 300 bucks for anybody that wants them. Thanks
