Have been having hesitation starting bike. Checked battery voltage 12.6+key off and 14.5 at fast idle. Cleaned and checked both ends of both cables. Still have problem. Had battery checked at Advance Auto-battery has only 92 cca.
Tech was only person in store and he was rather new-he did not know what the battery should have for CCA and was busy with other customers as well.
I do not know how many cca battery should have but likely 200+-correct.
Just want to check before the $125 hit for a new battery.
Thanks for any help.
It seems low? And if it is the original one ( yours is 2010? ) , it is 5 years now, right ?
It is already a good age for a batter, some last 2-3 yrs only.
And for example this replacement one has 220 cca.
If it's 5 years old , suspect it anyway.
What I would do , if you can , measure the voltage "as it's cranking" this shows how strong it still is.
Most motor vehicles (cars) will show less than 9 volts while cranking when the battery is near it's end of service.
If it can hold 10.5-11 volts while cranking , it should be pretty good.
Even when they're beat , some batteries will show 12.5v static and drop everything while cranking.
Just a good rule of thumb.
I consider 3-4 years really good for a bike , especially if it sits for a few months in the winter.
Sulfation is the real killer , not normal use.
