I didn't mind the reduced reach kit as far as foot controls position, but it pushes the pegs further out from bike. I felt like I was spread eagle. I ended up selling them fairly quick.

I noticed the kit came with spacers, that was likely to be a factor. Did you happen to know notice if they'd be necessary or could the install be done without them? It seems to me that moving your feet up and back, but then more open isn't going to yield any difference. You're just stretching your legs in a different direction.
I put them on my wife's XL883L. She's about 5'2" tall. Made a world of difference. I did the install - took about 45 minutes. Could have taken a little less but I wasn't in a hurry.
If the fw controls are a little out of reach - it's a world of difference. She is much happier and sits a little further back in the seat which makes it more comfortable to ride.
As for the spacer - I think you need it - it wasn't optional.
Also considering the Further Forward Mid-Control Kit. It's a bit more expensive, but I do feel like it will provide a bit more balance.
Would be nice to hear of anyone using it... or see it. Learned on mids and ride a bicycle all the time so the overall feeling is a little awkward.
These controls are stock on the 1200T models. If your dealer has one go sit on it and see what you think.
My riding companion had a 1200T so I've road the bike a couple of 100 miles. I personally don't like the positioning, but I really don't like the 'mini floorboards'. Replacing them with regular foot pegs may make a difference.
I do think you get a little more cornering clearance with the forward mids.

Thanks... and by forward mids, you mean the reach forward kit?
