Default Shock lowering block question

I scored a set of 13" air shocks and need to get some lowering blocks. I've seen the prices range from $20-$100. Are the cheaper ones ok? They are 1/4 steel and welded what's the difference in those and the expensive ones?

Stay away from the stamped welded crap. I have 1.75" Tamaracks on mine. Payed $60-$70 bucks for them. Difference is the Tamaracks are cnc machined aircraft aluminum.

I was just looking at lowering blocks myself, but I know very little. However, I wouldn't trust anything cheap with the weight of my bike on it. I wouldn't feel comfortable riding it.

You might want to look at the lowering blocks offered by one of our sponsors DK Custom:

I got mine from DK Customs. Ran them for almost two years. Only reason I took them off is my fiance started riding with me everywhere, and the extra weight made the bike bottom out too much. But I never had any problem whatsoever with them.

Rhythm,

Do you still have them? Are they for sale? How much would they lower the bike?

I ran their 1" lowering blocks for a couple years. Quality lowering blocks and great company to deal with, go with DK.

I installed my 13" RK shocks last month and used DKCustoms 1.75" lowering block I have there 1" as well but the bike was still to high for me that's why I went with the 1.75" and it also brings the bike almost back to stock height. Great product. Honestly man don't go cheap just think about a weld breaking while your on the E-Way on the cheaper blocks and that's the end there.

I've bought aluminum block chrome plated 1" lowering blocks with my 13" RK showa shocks, yes the height is more, eh, higher but the bike doesn't drag the pegs anymore!
I also raised the front 3/4" with plastic insert which helps with the front/rear balance.

The real problem is clearance with the stock bags, the shocks scraped the bags so room was needed supplied with spacers, it works but some would not like the "looks" of the bag hangers now.

look at the pics below.

cheers.
