After 14 years and as my 39th birthday draws near, I've finally decided that it is high time to get back on a motorcycle - after doing alot of researching, and looking at various bikes, I think I've settled on getting a Nightster (BTW -- I'm new to this forum, and will be new to Harley too -- my old bike was a Suzuki GS500 oh so very long ago!).
Herein lies the problem. Since they're very rare and are very difficult to see "in the flesh" at a dealer, I'm having problems deciding on a color! I really like the light blue and black scheme, but I'm not sure if it'll look-- well, to put it bluntly and with all due respects to the "gayster" thread I read with great amusement and interest -- too "girly". I like the green and silver two-tone schemes as well, but for some reason I really keep coming back to the blue.
I'd like to put a deposit down on one soon, and a dealer nearby has a blue one on order coming in in a few weeks. Any feedback or ideas on the color scheme I should be looking at? Has anyone actually seen the blue in the flesh?
Any info would be greatly -- and I do mean greatly -- appreciated!
The blue is the only one I haven't seen in person. But I think if the green wasn't available that would have been the next choice of color that I would have looked for.
I say ask the dealer if you can put a deposit on the blue one and move it to another if you don't like the color. I can't imagine they would mind since it's already on order.
I haven't seen a blue one in person but that would have been my color of choice if they had it in at the time. I say go for it, you might be the first one here with that color.
I just saw a blue/black Nightster yesterday at my local dealership. It was owned by one of the female salespersons. I'm in the same boat as I'd like to at least catch a glimpse of all the colors before making a deposit but I know this is a tall order given the scarity of the bike right now. I can safely say, and with no offense to anyone, that the particular blue on the Nighster is what I would consider closer to a "sky" blue andprobablygoingto be admiredby many of the gals out there. I don't mean to challenge anyone's masculinity here but my 1st impression was that of a softer pastel color. Notexactly whatI'M looking for, but nevertheless, doesn't in any way detract from the bike's beauty. And I certainly wouldn't think any less of guy sporting a Nighster in this color. To each his/her own.
I feel your pain man. I'm waiting to see the silver/black before I make a decision. I've seen the orange/black and it's drop dead gorgious. I need to see the silver/black though before I pony up the cash.
See, that's what I was thinking -- it looks really cool in the photos, but man --I get the same "powder blue" impression - I guess I just thought that the rest of the bike would be masculine enough to offset it, but based on your description, I'm thinking it might not be!
I suppose I'll have to wait and see what it looks like on the shop floor. Thanks for the advice, folks!
Dude, if you're worried about it now you'll be worried about all the time. Really, what does it matter? Donald Trump wears pink ties. You can ride a sky blue bike. It's as masculine as you make it.
Let's just come out and say it......The light blue looks more on the "feminine" side than the rest of the color schemes. BUT...who cares what most of us think! If you like the blue than go with it. It's always nice to share opinions but when it comes down to it, your the one who is throw'n down the cash and looking at it every day. I couldn't decide on black or the black/olive combo. Alot of opinions came back with "get the black." Finally I realized everyone is going to have their own take and I decided on the olive. No regrets since....no matter what you choose you're going to be on cloud 9. The nightster is a great choice! Even if you get baby blue.....[8D]
I work ata dealership in Boise, ID and I have seen all the colors. The orange/black made my eyes pop, so that's the one I bought. However, I can say in all honesty that every single color scheme looks damn good on these bikes. I absolutely agree with Bent... Get the color you want, and f@#$ what everyone else thinks. The whole girls bike guys bike bs is ridiculous.Let's face it, any Harley in any color can be ridden by a man or woman.... Believe me, I've seen it. We just had the leader of a local Hell's Angel chapter buy a black Nightster to ride as his "bar hopper." Doyou think anyone will tell him he is on a girl/gay bike? Not if theyvalue their lives lol. The blue denim looks very good indeed.... Notmy personal choice.... but f@#$ what I think as well
