Default Frozen Breather Screw (bolt)

I was planning on replacing the a.c., but can't get either breather screws loose. I rounded the left one pretty good (not as bad as it looks, but bad enough).

No, we don't have a dealership close by and there aren't any mechanics brave enough to try it.

What do I do?

I guess you are stuck with your breather bolts...lol...nah just joking. If it is already rounded, try Irwin's power-grip extractor set. I removed smooth bolts and button screws with it.

Shoot some pb blaster first then give a few taps to loosen any corrosion and free it up then use the power grip. Just used it on my turn signal bolt that I stripped

At least you didn't say "buy a BMW" or was that my inner self....

I just tried the Bolt Grip from bLowes, but there wasn't enough nut for it to grip or the shank is too long or something.

Which set do you have?

I'm thinking about connecting the two with a tube and taping a very fine screen over the intake.

I used Irwin power grip extractor bit with a dewalt impact driver. I also got out the bolt in the fork that holds the headlight visor and that was a socket Allen head.
The turn signal bolt was also an Allen head but with a round ball looking head. Both had no threads and was not a hex. Just need to get the right size

Check post #53 on this thread....it is a pic of one of the bolts I removed using the power grip extractor.

Been there, I did not have a quality, 6 sided, deep socket. Took it to my indie, he did, smacked it with a hammer, (on back of socket to seat it) gave it a strong jerk with a long socket wrench and it broke free.

Go get a good deep well socket and follow this man's instructions.

Not too hard with the smacking with the hammer. You don't want to crack the cylinder jug or warp it. A couple of good taps would normally break up the corrosion. If you use PB blaster, spray a little only on the outside perimeter of the bolt because you don't want that stuff to flow back into your crank case. Once out, clean up what ever corrosion is left on the threads on the inside and apply the appropriate sealant/threadlock on a new breather bolt before installing.

I'd slide a bolt or piece of solid steel tube into it to keep it from collapsing and use a good old plumbers pipe wrench, a bit of heat & vibration would help a lot too.

Hot lap has a good point...insert a solid tube first.

Yes PB Plaster, Liquid wrench over a few hours/ days so it really soaks in.
Apply a little heat with a propane torch.
Use a hammer and chisel on the bolt edge in loosening direction to shock the bolt.
Six point socket or wrench, specialty tool if rounded or vise grip of your choice.

Good luck, it will come out.

Many good suggestions here, and the key to all of them is patience. Always been the hardest part for me.
