Default Baffles?

Baffles? Or baffleless??? Trying to decide if I should ride with or without with my drag pipes. What do you do?

Funny you should mention that. I just took my baffles out of my Rush slip-ons today and was wondering the same thing. Man they make an awesome sound without baffles but lordy the neighbors will love me for it. Actually I put them back in but I removed the packing around them.

How did it sound without the packing? I thought the packing makes it sound lower.

Sounds just a little louder than when the packing is in. The only reason I did not put it back in is because it kinda came unraveled a little and looked like it was going to wad up trying to slide back in. The packing was already pretty dark and ratty looking and the pipes have been on about 2 months. Took the bike out when the baffles were out and cruised our by-pass and saw a cop coming up beside me and I eased off the throttle. Got worried about being to loud even though I don't think we have a law about it here in lower bama.

I thought about taking the baffles out of my v&h slip-ons just to see really how much louder it is with them out, but havn't had the time to do it yet. Anyone experience this? Is it that much louder with them out?

My tone stayed about the same withou the baffles but way way louder. Now with the baffles in and packing removed the tone is the same but just a little louder.

We took the baffles out of my pipes and it set off car alarms 2 buildings down. Damn that was loud! Much louder then the stock pipes with the baffles removed, and loud back fires!

I am tempted to remove them again to ride to work tommorrow(only 1 bolt) cause the younger fellas at work like to see pops ride up on his Harley. Give em' a real roar in the morning but am a little concerned about the neighbors at 6:45 in the morn.
