Default some complaining

ok im a little pissed about the cost of maintenance at the dealership. i know i need to go in for a service but honestly i dont have the money. i work three jobs to pay for everything i have but almost 300 dollars seems crazy to me. but i do know a guy that has had a harley for 35 years and he does all the service on his bike and he has told me that he would do it and show me how. i dont know if that will void my warranty or not. any advice?

it seems that i have good friends, they pitched in without me knowing and ordered me some vance and hines straightshot slip ons for my sporty..damn good friends!

I do all the maintenance since day one, all you need is a good service manual. As long as you keep the receipt for the parts and keep track of the maintenance record, I can't see how they can void the warranty.

Yeah! What 128Auto said.

With the $$ i saved on the stealer taking my $$, I bought a bike jack, and some chrome stuff to make me feel better!

The dealer told me that they cannot "make" you have the dealer do the work. Just keep the receipts, and keep log of the miles, and you can use that as proof of maintance.

All it took was the first $200 service at 1,000 miles for me to decide it was time to buy a Service manual!!

Dealer hasn't touched my bike since the day I picked it up, and unless it is warranty they probably never will. Think of the money you save in service you can spen on chrome!

There are several manuals available. I recommend the Harley Service Manual. Unless you find one on ebay, I don't think they're available anywhere except from the Harley Dealer.
