Just bought my first Harley, an 883R in black, it looks sharp as hell but geezuz it's impossible to keep scratch free and looking new. I bought all the harley cleaning products and I have used the scratch remover/buffer, wax and gloss which lasts about 4.3sec before it needs it again. Does anyone have any tricks to keeping black bikes looking good?
Black is NOT the color to keep it "looking good". Everyone knows black will show every speck of dust and dirt on the planet.
Wash it once in awhile, rub it down occasionally if you have to, but just get used to the fact it won't look showroom new every minute of every day. These bikes deserve better than to be babied every minute.
Just ride it dude, and let it be a Harley. Best effort is good enough for the kind of girls we go out with... eh girls?
You said it ! Mine is black and I love it. Plenty of little scatches I figure the more scratches I have on it the more fun I must of had. Just be glad its not all chrome or you would be detailing it for hours instead of riding it. he he he
Hey ! I saw your bike on previous posts and it is BEAUTIFUL! I'm about to get a 883R ORANGE.
Just like cars, BLACK color is a PAIN IN THE A$$...
You have to wax it MORE OFTEN, and to remove the dust and small imperfections between wax time you can apply some MEGUIARS QUICK DETAILER. I don't know what other bikers think about that??
Best Regards to all,
