Autozone oil...maybe it is made from recycled waste oil explaining the low price?
One fact, Sportsters have what is termed a wet clutch and shares the clutch oil with the transmission gears.
Second fact, some bikes are very particular as to what oil and additives are used in their wet clutch systems.
Third, Sportsters require 1 quart of oil in their transmission oil change service.
Guess - From recollection, trans oil service interval change is 10,000 miles.
OP .. How much are you actually saving? Considering the intervals observed, maybe a couple of hundred bucks ( if that ) over the lifetime? I know, I know. All oil is "slippery" right ??
Yeah I hear ya guys. I was pretty skeptical when I saw it. I went with Mobil 1.
Speaking of which, something I didn't notice when I used to buy it, this jug says "Limited Slip" on it. Does that matter to us?
"Limited Slip" refers to an additive that is essential ( generally ) in the operation of the clutch pack in the differential of automobiles ( posi-traction )
There are some posts regarding erosion of "yellow metals" (brass, copper) with some GL5 gear oils. Mobil 1 75W90 does not cause erosion, but some brands do. Maybe someone can post up the comparison data. I forget if it was on this forum or xlforum.net.
I'm using M1, but have a quart of BelRay Sport Transmission oil to try next change. I hear good things about Spectro STL transmission oil as well.
does the gear oil with that friction modifier additive in the gear oil improve the clutch grip? I only use exactly what Harley recommends so not ot mess up the clutch, no reason tot use anything else.
