I'm going to assume it's pretty much the same as Cycle Shack slip on install.

You just need some basic sockets and an extension.

You'll also need some WD-40 to get the original mufflers to "slip off". They can be a real pain sometimes. Seems that Ifinally used a rubber hammer (gently) to loosen the stock muffers.

Also, there is a metal gasket on each of the places where the pipes connect to the cross over pipe. Those are designed to be a one time use application. In my case, the gaskets were fine, but I've seen some that come off, that most certainly needed to be replaced. If the V & H pipes didn't come with the gaskets, you might want to go ahead and get a set from the dealer. If you're like me, you hate to get into a job, then discover you need to make a trip for something you don't have. As I remember the gasket set is less than $10.

i put some cycle shacks on also, and yes all you need isa couple ofwrenches orsockets (1/2 in, 9/16, and an extension to get to the exhaust mounts on the engine) be careful not to twist the stock pipes to much when you take them off, thats what rips the little gaskets which i did have to go get the next day for 7.00...i just replaced them both even though only one was messed up...oh and one other thing, if you can get some body to hold the pipe while you pull off the muffler, it will be ten times easier...i learned that after struggling taking off the first pipe...hope this helps....

In addition to the 9/16 an 1/2 I got a 10inch flixible extender because I could not get to the head pipe bolts with the regular socket.

In addition to the socket wrenches you'll also need either a flat head screwdriver or smaller socket and driver handle (don't remember the exact size) for loosening the heat shields on the exhaust to the engine, and to put the heat shields on the slip-ons.

Another piece of advice (I don't remember if this was in the instructions or not) is to clean off the heat shields and pipes with windex or something of the sort to make sure you get all fingerprints and residual oils off the chrome before you start it up and ride. I had the same problems xl50_366 had also in trying to twist off the stock mufflers.

Oh, and one other piece of advice is to be REALLY careful about how tight you fasten the bolts on the plate that secures the pipes to the frame. It didn't feel like I was putting on that much pressure, but I managed to strip a bolt when securing that plate and it was a royal pain to get that thing back off to replace it with a non-stripped bolt and nut.
