Default Bolt replacement

Hi guys. I got a question for you all. I have some bolts on my bike that could use replacing. Many of the he heads are older and have rusted a bit. Where can I get new ones to replace these? I can always have these powder coated but then they wouldn't match much of the chrome. Thoughts?

You could get them at the Harley Dealership, but you can probably get nicer ones, for a better price at a local fastener shop...or you could go online to MSC or FSI.

Just make sure to match the grade that you are replacing...if stock calls for a grade 8 bolt, don't replace it with a grade 5 bolt.

If it is just the heads of the bolts that are not looking good, you might consider some Chrome Caps, like you can see at this LINK.

ACE Hardware stores carry a nice selection of chrome and stainless hardware. A local custom bike shop that builds 80k & up bikes recommended them.

Don't know if it's a secret or not, but I use Alloy Boltz. DANG nice company to do business with. I get all my chrome hardware from them including complete sportster engine bolt kits. Prices are good, and they have complete kits down to the smallest one-off nut bolt or washer you might need. My last purchase was a sportster kit that had everything I needed, each bolt individually packed and labled.

Give em a try.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely check the hardware store out. I wasn't sure if the bolts were special sizes.

Take the bolts with you to match up the size. The chrome and stainless stuff are normally in locked vidmars. A store clerk will probably have to assist you.
