Im asking this for a friend who has a 2014 forty eight. he recently installed an LED headlamp (not a just a bulb). I THINK its a moons. anyway, when he activates the highbeam, this security light comes on. no issues with low beam. any ideas? I've seen some people say it happens sometimes and HD can reflash Thanks

nothing you can do. i have the same issue on my dyna with the led h4. the canbus does not like the voltage of the led vs the expected stock voltage. nothing to worry about. well... there's that annoying read light. just clear the codes. it's a pain

It's not a voltage issue, it's the lower wattage load of the LED vs that of the stock incandescent bulb.
You would need some type of resistor kit. I know they make them to stop the turn signals from flashing rapidly when swapped to LED. Not sure if they make a headlight equivalent for direct plug and play in a bike, but my guess is someone probably has or a car version could be easily modified.
Using resistors kind of defeats the purpose of using less energy. Besides, to compensate for say 40 W these resistors will generate 40 W of heat. That's equivalent of a small soldering iron.

Agreed, but this is what the ECM is expecting. I doubt Harley is going to let us modify this check in the code, so the only solution is to put the resistance in the anticipated range.
