Hey All,
Spent the first 'good amount' of time on the freeway last weekend.
First time I really noticed it, but just cruising around @ 75 or so, was a little unnerving. Not like my old Buell Blast that felt like I was going to get knocked over, just the amazing amount of force the wind has.
I was looking around and found that I dont dislike the look of a flyscreen, but dont need it most of the time.
Ive seen the Dart, but that one doesnt fit the 1200R with speedo and tach.. I think, and Memphis Shades has a nice 'Del Ray' or Gauntlet, but both at $150 just for the mounting hardware.
Ive seen the National - that doesnt look bad, any other suggestions?
I've been riding behind various windshields and fairings for around 50 years. One thing I've learned is that the wind or slipstream takes the shortest route around anything we put in it's path! On my SPorty I have a qd full-sized windshield, which is great on longer trips, to take the strain away, but takes a few seconds to remove or refit. A small flyscreen will keep the wind off your belt buckle, but not much more!
I find just the opposite. My last bike was a Suzuki Boulevard M50.
I had to put a wind screen on it. Any thing over 50 mph and it felt like I was doing one long pull up. The wind just blasted me right in the chest, forget about removing a hand from the bars. Fast fwd to my Sportster 48 and I feel little or no wind force up to 70-75.
My feet blow off the pegs before I feel pressure in the chest
I can ride with one hand at interstate speeds.
Must be the 48's stance and me more sitting 'in' the bike instead of on top of it.
It's a shame the Dart doesn't work for you. Ive had one on my XL883N for about a year now, and it does a brilliant job. Can't imagine riding without it.
I have the fly screen and really like it, it absolutely works for taking the force of chest wind away. I most often wear a full face helmet, but I can wear my half helmet without it being pushed up and back on my head which was not the case with taller windshields in the past. Saying it will only shield your belt buckle is an in correct assumption. The air is calm up to my chin and I do not suffer buffeting on my head. I am 6' riding a strret Bob.

Your post was the reason I was looking at them, but there is mixed info. their website doesnt say anything about the roadster not working, but their ebay page explicitly states the 1200R will not fit.
I found this one last night that should pop on / off pretty quickly, and doesnt make the bike look silly either.
Are you looking for function or looks? IMO a fly sceen has a small stance with limited protection. For windshields, the recommendation is height right below the nose and the fly screen appears way below that point....hence limited protection. But if you can find something that takes the wind off the chest, you can always wear a helmet with face shield.
I am partial to fairings and have no wind force (wind is redirected over my head) so riding is comfortable at high speeds but still get the breeze in my face. Without it, I use to get blown...like it would push me off the bike if I did not hold on firmly. With my fairings and bags, I can easily remove them from the bike since both have quick release mounts. Just things to think about.

Good luck in your search.
Totally functional purposes. my plan is to remove it unless riding the highway for more than 10-15 minutes. My parents live about a half hour away and took the bike there on 287 and 78 and was amazed at how much i had to hang on while on those roads at 75. I have a full face helmet so I dont think I need a full windscreen, just enough to not feel like I could get pushed off if my hands are not vice clamped to the grips.
