1 inch seems to be the deal for replacement bars on the HD site so that's what I went with. This seems like it will be a good winter riding windshield. I have a flyscreen and took it off for the summer because it deflects the wind right into my eyes and I found it hard to ride with the faceshield up because it made my glasses vibrate.
I'll get mine tomorrow. I'll tell ya how I like it. You get the deflector?
I went with the deflector. It seems like it should work pretty well. It's a fair bit bigger than the flyscreen and I like the adjust-ability of it. I don't think it will look as good on my Iron but the functionality will be nice this winter.
I installed mine and I'm not sure I like it much. Actually initiated a return on revzilla.
It does remove some wind from your chest but I could not get it directed above my helmet. Under 50 it directs wind right at the helmet and makes it much louder. Plus you lose the cooling breeze. Above 50 the wind does seem slightly better but any gusts or headwinds seems to just rip around it anyway. And your head shakes from the wind.
I keep going back and forth thinking well, for the highway, it's gotta help some. I did notice it was easier to ride on a 1/2 hour cruise up 287 yesterday. I could relax my left hand. But I also did a 10 min ride without and didn't notice nearly as much effect as I did last week. But then I think, once it gets cold it might be nice, but using it only when I'm occasionally knowing before leaving I'll be on a highway is rare, and so why keep it if most of the time it'll just sit there...
IMO, a Flyscreen pretty much keeps the bugs off the back of your gauges...little/no body protection...maybe even directs everything to your head. If you're looking for something "functional" then get a full-size shield. You may not like the looks, but large shields are the best for wind/bug deflection. These little screens are simply for looks vs. true function.
