I recently changed from 8" pull backs, to 10" mini apes. I'd like some opinions about relocating the turn signals, from the bars, to the lower tree pinch bolts. I already have the relocation kit, from Arlen Ness. The reason I thought about it, was to be able to flip the mirrors down.
One thing I didn't notice, was how the clutch cable is routed. It would rub against the turn signal, when the bars are turned to the left. Just as a side note, I do have 2" brackets that set the light out from the side of the relocation brackets, but I think flush mounted would look better.
Not only would I relocate the signals, I'd pitch those big 'ol lights for smaller LEDs (JMO). So...my vote is relocate them. Also, didn't your new bars come w/dimples/holed to wire internally? Reason I ask is it would really clean-up the look w/those sweet bars. You can route/tie-wrap the clutch cable out of the way too...just get crafty w/cable routing & tie wraps. Enjoy!
You know, after a second look, the bars are not made for internal wiring. Would have to drill holes at the dimples and an oval hole, at the bottom. The holes that are already there are for the clips to hold the wiring, externally.
Yes I agree with others- relocate the turn signals and zip tie the cables out of the way so you can flip your mirrors. When you have some wrenching time, relocate the cables out of the way.
Here is a thread on relocating turn signals...some pics on where the cables are located in relationship with the turn signal. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...ion-kit-5.html
Your front end would look a lot better if you clean up your cables. I don't recall having issues with cables when I relocated the turn signals.
I have mini-apes also. I relocated smaller turn signals to the top tree. Did not flip my mirrors. I'm running my clutch cable between the signal and the tree.
This is a much lower profile look, and brighter too, that Devin is running on his Sporty. No apes, but he flipped one mirror. Stealth LED Running/turn Lights
Got it done. I like the looks much better. And before anyone says it, I didn't do LEDs, simply because I may trade or sell the bike in the near future.
