The record I know is a pal of mine who bought a new Firebolt some years ago, rode it home and took off those 'effing ugly' belt guards then rode it round to show it off. In just a few miles he had picked up a large flint, punctured his belt and damaged his rear pulley - on the day he bought his bike!

Evo belt went 100,000. '96 Newer belts are better, at least my XL883 looks new. I'll change at 100,000 unless I see cracks or tear caused by gravel. Ozone, ie electric motors running in your garage will decay all products that have rubber as a component. I check belt deflection each year and look for signs of damage. Takes 5 minutes.
