Ok I have just about had it with rear drive belts. Picked up a stone last fall and cut my belt . Changed forward and aft pulleys and belt this past winter. Now here's where the fun starts . 120 miles on new belt picked up another stone. I've just about had it with this belt stuff. Question is has anyone on here ever changed over to a chain drive? Honda and BMW are really starting to look good. I am a jet tech and I'm getting tired of turning wrenches all day and coming home and having to wrench some more on my relaxation toy.
You must be one of the most unlucky folks around. I've ridden many thousands of miles
and never had this problem. My driveway is a 1200' ft dirt/stone road, too.
If not abused, the belts will go 50K.

I agree, these belts ain't the greatest, specialy that little skinny belt on my 06 ultra. I got a rock at around 15,000 got lucky to make it home from Colorado to Minnesota. the next time I went to go riding it broke.
I had a hole from a rock for the past 50K, belt broke @100K. But it was the 1.5" belt. I went with a 1" belt this time so I could run a wider rear tire. I live on a gravel road & have no problem taking gravel roads when I am out riding.
makes easy for gearing swaps, maybe even a wider wheel if you want.
the belt was to reduce maintenance and to meet noise regs.
my FXRp belt went at about 48 ...and was a CHP bike for the first 40K of it's life.
The FLHTC went to 70K and i changed the belt when doing some other work...so since I was in there I swapped it.
I'm ok with belts... got a 11mm belt primary on the Panhead
These belts are made to last a long time. Sounds like you have had some really bad luck. Converting to chain drive seems like backwards progress dont you think? Just sayin..
