Default Leaky petcock

I have a 04 sportster 1200 with what appears to be a leaky petcock or fuel line. First I'm planning on replacing the hose clamp, but I'm sure the problem is in the pet ****. Should I rebuild or just replace it all together? Any advice would be helpful! I will post an additional picture after I have ridden it. I can hear the fuel sizzling when it hits the cylinder.

I would replace it, should only be about $30.00 from your local HD dealer.

It looks like the petcock is bad. Replace it. If you have a little extra to spend, upgrade to a Pingel. They are about $120 but worth every penny

Hi from the UK and welcome. That is a wise choice, I never saw the point of the vacuum taps. The Pingel is great, if a lot more.

That valve is only about $30...But you probably can replace the 2 o-rings in it and save removing the hose clamp. Automobile screw type are garbage on small thin wall hose. I would keep the vacuum part since it's easy to forget to turn off fuel if someone distracts you. I usually get it since I make it a habit to check 360 on everything before I walk away. (I travel a lot and RIP leaves stuff and it's just a habit of mine) . It's driving off since I rarely ride the carb bike now, when I forget and it can be dangerous with traffic like it is. Plus it's a safety on your bike. On FI, they have the tilt bank angle switch like yours that kill the engine but also have a cut off on the fuel pump. That is your cutoff. If a bike goes down and the carb on it's side, it will pour gas out the carb vent. That is something you don't want in an accident.
