Default SE clutch

I have. 2016 XL1200C. It is six months old and I have 5 K miles on it. I have read the forum discussion on clutch issues on the sporty. I am considering putting the SE clutch pack in my sporty.

Here is the question, the catalog says it will increase the clutch lever pull by 10%. However, on the forum I have read that it doubles the clutch lever pull.

Anyone who has the SE clutch can you advise which is true. I can handle ten percent increase, I don't think I would want to deal with a double the effort situation

Any advice is appreciated

My energy one clutch with 15% stronger plate is a little harder to pull in but not that much.

Default Don't want to void warranty

I do not want to put an after market clutch in at this time. Don't want to void the factory warranty
If anyone has a SE clutch please advise about the increase in lever pull
Thanks

I have the SE clutch and the SE diaghram spring on my TriGlide. Just doing the clutch plates does not change the pull. It gives better grab. On my heavy bike with non stock torque it works great, but, might be too grabby on a lighter bike. By adding the SE diagram spring it added more clutch pull force needed. Definitely not more than 20%... but I can't measure it. I have carpal tunnel issues and it's no worse than before the SE stuff.

I had one in my 48.

Lever pull was increased, more than 10%, it's a 10% heavier spring, doesn't correlate to lever pull effort required.

I could still pull it in with 2 fingers, only in bad stop start traffic did it get tiring.

The only part of the warranty you would void would be the one on the clutch. Any thing else they would have to prove the clutch caused the failure. See Magnusson Moss Federal warranty Act.

one thing I forgot to add, I loved the pickup from the grabbier clutch, out of the whole at the lights the bike just rocketed away, absolutely no slip from a 4k rpm launch. It would either smoke the wheels or if you got it just right would just squat and carry the front wheel 2-6 inches off the ground till you shifted to 2nd.

Was a lot of fun, I loved tearing around on that bike. My FXDLS is a beast but the sporty will forever hold a place in my heart thats for sure.

I too had the SE clutch installed on my 2007 XL1200L when the stock clutch blew up at 22K or the whereabouts. I still have it. I can confirm that the lever pull was increased but as brasher already mentioned, it only gets tiring in stop start traffic.

Over time, I have found that the lever pull has decreased, either because the spring weakened or my palm muscle strengthened... or both.

Also true in my experience is the pickup from the stronger grabbier clutch with no slip whatsoever. Being 145 pounds in weight, I am light enough that I would regularly either smoke the rear wheel or make it squeal.

HTH.
