Have an '05 xl883 I want to black out. Bike is completely stock. Came off the line black, but has a ton of chrome. What exactly do I need? The cheaper the better, I don't want to spend big money on aesthetics.
You invested in a Harley Davidson and you want to go cheap and don't want to spend on aesthetics?!? Have some pride in your ride!
Then my recommendation would be to save your money and spend on performance....when you are ready change out to stage 1, then change those parts to black i.e. black exhaust and black air cleaner. Kill two birds with one stone....It's a start.

"The cheaper the better". Not the cheapest. No point spending what I paid for the bike just to make it black. I can get what I want without spending top dollar. If you aren't going to answer my question (which you clearly didn't) don't respond. I don't remember asking you for your opinion. Oh and you don't know me, if I didn't have "pride in my ride" I wouldn't have gotten a Harley.

yeah, your gonna last a long time here.
look on ebay or the classified, plenty of guys removing stock parts that came black as they go to chrome. I picked up a lot of bits that way. Anything else, powder coat

+1 on the powdercoat. Way more affordable than paying for new parts, good durable finish, and you can do all your parts you want blacked out at once or you can do it piece by piece.
