Default Aesthetic Sportster upgrade suggestions

Hey everyone, newbie from Canada here (thanks for having me) looking to upgrade a bike I don't own yet. LOL

It'll be my first Harley, either an Iron (w/1200cc conversion) or a Forty-Eight. What I would like are a few suggestions for good looking aftermarket spedometers (the stock one just seems to stick out like a soar thumb), side-mounted license plate holders, front rear blinkers, and rear stop light. Accompanying pictures would be fantastic. Thanks!

Timmy, Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. Learn to walk first, there's a good chap! By all means look around at stuff you find interesting, but your first task is to run in your bike and enjoy it. Once you're out there on the road with the wind in your hair you can start thinking more seriously about improving it, but be aware your choices may well change a lot, pretty soon, especially when you see what other riders are doing. Time is on your side, so don't rush!

Hey, thanks. I'm heading to the UK for the first time (Nantwich) in a month and really looking forward to it.

I get what you're saying but a friend has a stock Iron and I've spent considerable time drooling over it, so I know already what visuals I'd like to change. I just don't know what's out there, hence this thread.

The engine upgrade is longer term but the visuals and exaust (don't like how my friend's sounds) I would like day one.

Just buy the bike and ride it. Trying to make it look or sound a certain way may conflict with what you will actually want out of the bike. .... just buy and enjoy for a while

I hear you, but again, I want to make these minor changes from the start and was hoping for some good places to start looking.

It was just a simple question on where to start. Forget I asked.

i get your frustration but, you may f something up or change something before you even know what you do and don't like. people like short shots.. they are horrible pipes. people like slammed suspension, it's plain stupid, looks cool though. going based on looks will get a you a william wallace stretcher of a pain machine that is unreliable and performs horribly.

i don't want to ruin your fantasy of an iron (worst possible sporty to buy new) but, the wait and see approach works better. ....and you really kinda can't go asking other people what you need to do with your bike. it's deeply personal. hell if i did what other's told me i had/needed/they thought was best to my bike... i'd be everyone else.. i'm not, and my bike is uniquely mine.... there is not another like it (for better or for worse, lol)

my
you want some advice on changes.... skip the cliche iron and CHANGE to a 1200 roadster not much more and you win all the way around. more power, dual disk brakes, super light wheels, better seat, better suspension, better stock instruments. christmas...

good luck

Thanks. I appreciate that. I'm not buying a bike until November/January, so not in a rush, and I am buying new despite knowing it's the worst thing you can do. It will be my first Harley, not my first bike, and I want a brand new one. The second one will be used. I'm also leaning towards an Iron because I like the black look and don't feel like polishing chrome all the time.

I just wanted some ideas on what products are out there for when I do buy.
