Default Forward controls question

I had my buddy come look at my new bike today. He said it runs great. One of the things he mentioned is the forward controls. He said he was having to take his foot off of the peg to move up a gear, neutral was right at the top of the travel but he didn't have to take his foot off of the peg. Secondly the back brake is not very reachable. I will attach a few pictures. He said if it's a planned stop it's not to big of a deal but good luck getting on it quick. So is the forward controls on it not fit for the bike or is there some level of adjustment? What are my options. Thanks for everyone's help thus far.

When folks try out something they are unaccustomed to they tend to see "unaccustomed" as a problem. You'll get used to your forward foot placement in jig time and will be shifting and braking without thinking about it just like your friend does on his own bike. Don't worry about it.

An idea for you,,, not expensive either:

Drag Specialties makes the cheap heel / toe lever and I made the toe peg out of 2 x extensions and the heel out of 1. The red arrow points to a set screw which I installed after drilling and tapping the lever at mid thickness. The set screw inserts into a circumferential channel you have machined in your shifter spline and secures it better.

I wear a size 10 Chippewa boot and find this arrangement quick, intuitive and easy indexing. If you tried it and didn't like it you would be out less than 80 bux if you use your existing toe peg. Just a thought.

Ok, that's a neat add on. I'll look into that.

I have the exact same forwards as you. I love them. There is plenty of room for adjustment. Just set them up the way you like. The turnbuckles offer a lot of travel to get them right where you want them. Have your friend help you set it up while sitting on the bike.

The shift peg and brake pedal were adjusted for the previous owners shoes. Adjust them for your shoes

That's great to hear, thanks. What are the name of the controls?

This should be it. There have been a few manufactures over the years of this kit, but basically this should be the same. Dang friggin nice too.

And as far as emergency braking, well, I did a VERY in depth video about that as well. LOL.
