Default Battery cover on 2004 roadster keeps coming off

The battery cover on my bike keeps undoing every time I ride, the rubber grommet that is attached at the bottom is basically gone. However I just feel like the snaps that attach the cover to the battery case housing are crappy to begin with. Anyone else have this issue, solutions?

Harley has an upgrade for the clips that are almost as bad as the ones they replace . Drill a small hole in the clip and drop a plastic wire tie down thru it

My new 2016 883 Iron has the same clips as your's and kept falling off also . Harley told me they fixed the problem , liars ! So I did what many have had to do and drilled a hole through the cover and inserted a cotter pin . The update kit I looked at from the dealer's parts department was the same clips that are on my 2016 .

So what I did was just remove the clip portion from the cover, under it was the original screw hole so I just used a zip tie and tied it to the frame. Works just fine and dandy but god damn what a shitty design and after all these years it's still not fixed?
