Default 2007 Sportster 1275 Hammer Upgrade

Over the last year I have been slowly upgrading my 2007 Sportster 883 Low in anticipation of upgrading to a Hammer 1250 kit. I purchased a new Power Vision in hopes of fine tuning the fuel efficiency but the existing tune seemed appropriate $500 down. Clutch went out last summer, upgraded to the stronger spring clutch, why not. The bike was purchased with an after-market air cleaner and from what I can tell Cycle Shack slip on mufflers. I like the way the bike sounds but that decal pop that I hear from other Harley’s I thought was only achievable with a carbureted engine. My 2007 is fuel injected. So fast forward to my new 1275 Hammer upgrade kit. This is the basic most economical upgrade with kit with no head work or cam upgrade.

If anyone is wondering whether this upgrade is worth it, I am here to tell you YES!! I am still in my 500 mile break in period so I cannot totally jump on the throttle and give you an exact blow by blow as to the improved speed and power, however I can tell you that I can definitely feel the additional power throughout the entire band width of gears. At higher speeds I used to jump on the throttle lean forward in anticipation of the acceleration and then wait for the bike to catch up. Now the throttle is extremely responsive. The engine feels stronger and more powerful through every gear. I have not been able to get a top end speed but she is definitely stronger and more powerful. Oh and that decel pop I mentioned earlier must be due to piston compression rather than a carberator because my decel engine pops are now music to my ears!!
If you have any hesitations as to whether you should upgrade your 883 to a 1250 or Hammer 1275 I would resoundingly say don’t wait, do it now! The performance enhancement is amazing.

I like to go down a really steep hill in first gear and no throttle and listen to my bike pop like crazy.

Decel popping is usually an over lean condition, you can fix that.

Well, I shouldn't admit this, but, I haven't opened the throttle 100% since I did the Hammer conversion. Either it's that good, or ...
