Hey guys an gals. I'm new to Harley and I honestly have no idea why why I waited so long. Anyway, I'm wanting to add a tachometer to my Sportster. I have the tach, the mount, and the rest of the hardware. I called my local Harley shop and got absolutely no answer on what cable I need and they had no idea how to find the part number. Does anyone happen to have it? I have a 2008 1200 Iron. Thanks!!
Check the wiring diagram in your service manual on the Roadster schematic that will have the tach harness pigtail, not sure if your bike will have it or not.
Thanks for the rapid reply everyone! I've got a long weekend of work scheduled on this bike, want to wrap it all up well before riding season gets under way. I'll post at least an after picture soon. Thanks again!!

Yes, please do post an update when you get it done.
I've been wanting to do the same for my XL1200L but if I do, I'm gonna have to accept the fact that the upper handlebar clamp and the Speedo/Tach bracket are 2 separate pieces. On the XL1200L the clamp and the speedo bracket is a single piece, and I like it that way.
I actually went with a bracket designed for the Dyna. Its just a flat piece of metal with holes for the gauge and a couple holes for lights. I will have to change the handlebar clamp and I know that. I'll likely change it to one with the lights built in. And I'm making the cans and lids for the rear of the gauge. All eBay parts!
It appears that you have all the stuff to make it work.
Harley also sells a combination speedo so that all your info appears on one gauge. It actually looks a lot nicer in daylight
I thought about going that direction because it's pretty trick and I do like that kind of stuff. What I'm kind of going for is a muscle bike kind of feel. Like a shoebox Chevy with a big block. It's got all sorts of parts from a bunch of other cars all thrown in and it totally works!
