HD makes a 2" Mini Tach that has the same face as the stock speedo. It blends together as a set when it's all mounted up. It's still not small when it's in the can and mounted but it looks pretty good.
This is the smallest one I found and one of the less expensive.
I put it on my bike works like a dream easy to install and I showed up at my door in 2 days.
Excellent Tach

I purchased one of Speedway Instruments' tachs when they first came out with it. they have since provided the chrome-cased version which I just received and it really looks sharp. But unless you point it out to people, or turn it on, no one even notices it there -- blends in very nicely.
Now if you're just local cruising or bar-hopping then it's a nice to have, though I was managing quite well without it. But I spend last week charging around the twisties of western North Carolina (Deals Gap, Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway, etc) and it was a godsend. Having that very visible tach to have the right RPM to pull out of corners in the right gear was really, really handy. Sure, I could have done it without a tach, but it depending on the sound of the engine wasn't all that practical. That thing was worth every penny spent.. Yeah, I like it!!
