I have a 2008 sportster 1200 xlc custom...its been running like crap mist the time well I'm tryi to adjust my valves but my push rod covers are solid what do I need to do
I would submit, too, that you don't want adjustable pushrods. They're a solution looking for a problem. And an expensive solution at that, which in the end, only serves to reduce reliability.
The stock hydraulic lifters are self-adjusting. To the extent your pushrods are too short, they lengthen, and to the extent your pushrods are too long, they shorten. Why would you need or want an adjuster in the pushrod along with a collapsible cover?
I've tested stock lifters to 8,000rpm and they work fine. The Buell XBRR factory race bike (56 made) had a factory 9,000 rpm rev limit and used the same stock lifters that are found in every Sportster made since 2000.
There's a lot of stuff for these bikes that's designed mostly to separate you from your money, as opposed to providing any real benefit.
The amount of guys on the fxxkbook that think adjustable pushrods with stockish hydraulic lifters is a Performance upgrade is astonishing. But, you can’t convince them otherwise
