Hi guys, changed the oil and filter on my bobber, done everything as supposed to, took it for its first ride; got about 1/4 mile, and it started misfiring and juddering intermittent, got it home and tried to to drain oil out via the bung on the drain hose; but nothing comes out yet the oil tank is Half full, any ideas, thanks in advance
Did your oil pressure light come on? I'm not sure why oil would not come out when you remove the plug. You didn't drop the foil cover from an oil bottle into your tank and block the feed line? I think the later bikes drain is tapped into the feed line. My 1991 has it's own dedicated drain hose.
hi John, it's a strange one, oil lights comes on when turn on the ignition and goes off when started, It too has its own dedicated drain hose too, ive undone the oil filter just to see if oils getting to the filter and it is.
I live in Birmingham England, it's been a particularly hot summer this year, I'll try it again mid week and keep you all posted, thanks for your time guys
That is weird....my question is if you filled the oil to recommended level, where did half of it go if it is not leaking....perhaps the reason for the misfire and juddering. Is smoke coming out of your exhaust?
As suggested, maybe there is too much pressure in the tank so take off the oil cap for better flow. IMO if oil is not draining with oil in the tank, maybe the drain hose is plugged or access to it.
