I'm looking to buy a sportser and i found one and i was just wondering what you guys would pay. I found a 1994 XL Sportser 1200 in very good condition. No paint chips or dents, new harley tires, well taken care of, he is asking $5200, and i think this is a little high. I looked up the kelly blue book price and that is $4725 for excellent condition. I was just wondering what you think is a good price. Thanks.
Wbogley is right. Bobbsterkid7 just bought a '93 with only ~1500 miles for $3500. Make them a lower offer and show them you did some research, (state the KBB price list, and take some E-Bay/ Cycletrader adds of other scoots for the same year with a lower price than the $5200). They will probably state the prices of the extra chrome/etc that they put on, but everyone knows they will not get there moneys worth out of additions.

Ouch! And I'm not sure why KBB is showing such a high 'retail price' for that year and model.
I check with the NADA Guides (which most banks and financial institutes use for pricing), and for a 1994 XL 1200 they show an 'average retail price' of $3,310.
I think the retail price shown by NADA might be much closer to the actual value of a 1994 model.
When prices get that low they kind of plateau.. Pretty much any nice, good running harley should be worth at least $4500... but like others said, just al little bit more money and you could get yourself a newer bike. You will have to look hard for it though -- lots of people are upside down in newer bikes and can't afford to let them go for what they're worth.
That said, I think $4500 would be a fair price for the bike in question.
