What kind of tool?
I have a 2006 883C. I going to change the footpegs out on it, but it appears that some sort of tool is needed to take off the little holding ring in order to remove the pegs. Have any ideas? I am not so sure that you can do it without the specialized tool.

You need retaining ring pliers. Any hardware store has them. Get a set that works both ways internal and external(spread and squeeze) for future use. For this job you need spread type.
