Default RE: Your evolution as a biker

Mine is short and sweet:

1. 1989 Honda 125 (learned to ride and passed my test on this one).
2. 1992 Kawasaki 500 (daily 1.5 hour commute - each way - for 2 years though rain, snow, wind and sun)
3. 2007 Harley Davidson XL 1200 L.

I took up riding in my mid twenties having been forbidden to ride bikes by my parents as a teenager. Between 2) and 3) above, travelled the world, working in many European and Asian countries. Never settled in one place for more than a couple of years and so a bike was never an option. Now a permanent resident in Singapore, I'm able to live one of my dreams to own a Harley.

Default RE: Your evolution as a biker

Rode mini-bikes of friends when I was a kid, then learned how to ride an actual motorcycle on a 1973 Italian-made 125cc Harley belonging to one of my best friends when I was 16. Spent my H.S. years riding friends' dirt bikes because my mother would not let me have one (hey, I ain't too proud to admit it). When I turned 18, I bought my first.

1972 Honda CB 750 (stock) - totalled it when a drunk left-turned into me
1973 Honda CB 750 (chopper, 12" over, raked/extended, king/queen)
1975 Sportster XLCH (tore down to nothing, rebuilt in my living room).
1979 Shovelhead (see Sportster above - who knows what the actual model was)
1993 Heritage Classic
2005 Electra Glide Classic (current w/ 30,500 miles)
2007 Springer Classic (current w/ 2,500 miles)

As a kid, my grandmothers yamaha scooter she used to let me ride that on weekends.
When I was around 15 my dad helped me rebuild a Honda 250 which I foolishly sold to buy a car stereo (UGH!)
Now I have a 06 1200c which I will not be selling for a car stereo.

First rode an Italjet50cc in about 78.
Didn't ride again until my friend taught me how to ride his Honda 150cc something in about '86
My other friend's girlfriend's parents wouldn't let him take her out on his GPZ750 so I used to ride his bike to the club and he would ride my car.
Didn't ride again for another 14 years when I got my Sporty. Loving it and not entirely sure why I didn't get my own bike a lot sooner.
