I posted this thread in the trans. section with no response. Thought I would try my knowledgable Sporty buddies....
"What could be squeeking from the primary/transmission area on the left? I have an 03' 1200xl with about 10k miles on it. It makes the sound when in neutral and rolling at low speed. At first I thought it was the tire rubbing the ground because it sounds like a rubber squeek, kind of like a tennis shoe on a waxed floor makes."
Do you mean while rolling in nuetral?? Or did mean it seperately, when in neutral sitting still, but also in gear at low speed? Also does it make the sound if it's idling and your not on the bike? If it's just while rolling while in neutral, are you sure it's just not the belt squeeking on the drive pully? One thing that happened for me was the rubber dampers on the shock bolts where squeeking, and the weird thing was it only did it when the bike was running and it sounded like it was comming from the engine, anyhow I sprayed a little lube on them and the sound went away. Just make sure you check out all the simple external causes for the sound before digging into the primary case.
