Hey all. Been enjoying my 2019 sporty 48 with no real problems thus far. However it recently starting puking oil (can smell that it’s oil, and see it) out of the front cylinder exhaust upon start up. Sometimes while riding on decel too. It’s so bad it will fill up the garage and street out front of house.
anyways, it’s at Harley getting looked at now. Any guesses what they will find and whether they will try to get out of fixing it due to it being modified (just stage 1)?
I’ll update the thread as I get news from them.

Reason: Typo
From all of the recent threads on warranty appear to say pretty much that if your stage 1 employs parts not approved then the drive train is not covered.
If you had the dealer carry out the stage 1 then you might have some come back but it will be between you and the dealer excluding HD when using none HD parts as in the device used to remap the ECM.
In the first instance an engine that is continually blowing oil smoke you would expect a problem with the piston rings. It could be excessive crank case pressure but then you would expect both cylinders to be affected but it might be a blocked breather on that cylinder.

yeah crossing fingers. Can’t imagine them suggesting an intake, tune, and exhaust would be connected to valve guides or piston rings (my best guess at the problem). We’ll see I guess.
Yes, especially if Cams were installed!!!! Someone did Not know enough to check spring/collar/guide Clearance!!!!
Or... I Noticed "new Pipes" Really New, or been "tested"... I always suspect crap in the Pipes if it started immediately after the Change!!!!!

Good points. Pipes have been on for the life of the bike nearly. No cams or engine work. No new service or changes. Just sort of started. Such a bummer.
Have the dealer check for porosity in the head. I just bought the wife a 2019 48 and the rear cylinder had that problem with only 8 miles on it. They called HD and they said they had gotten a bad batch of cylinder heads in with that problem and fixed it right away under warranty. They thought at first it was to much assembly lube on the bolts but since I build bikes I didn't by that and they had another tech look at it and he found the problem. Good luck on your bike.

So harley has the bike. Did a compression test and found front cylinder to be lower than spec. 185 and should be over 200. Also found lots of oil buildup on front plug. They are gonna tear apart front cylinder to check out the rings. Sucky part is he had to tell me that it may not be covered due to having a V&H fuel pack. My air fuel ratio is great, and an off the shelf tune. Doesn’t run rich or lean and even if it did; that wouldn’t be related to bad rings. Even though he agrees he says Harley may not cover it. I’m sorry but how is Harley gonna keep customers when a brand new bike pukes oil and they may not fix it. I’ll see what they do but it’s frustrating to say the least. Worst case scenario I’ll pay the 500 bucks or whatever for the diagnosis and crack into it on my own or a third party shop. Best case, they actually fix it.
