Default Security System turns on When indicating

Hi,

i recently installed new indicators (ebay) and upon install i cannot get the running lights working now (now LED). Besides that while bike is running when indicating the red key light comes on and stays on until the power is off. What could be causing this?

What model and year is your bike?

What have you removed, what was the original setup?

What is the configuration of the led lamps you are fitting; how many wires, what does the supplier description say they should do?

Help us to help you.

ETA. I suspect the security lamp is actually indicating you have a fault. Check for DTC codes.

Its a 2011 Forty Eight.

i removed the original lights and installed new LED lights, the new lights have earth, running and indicator. Im not sure if i need a resistor or not because i cannot get the running lights to work even though there is power right to the light board.

What did the original lights do that you removed? Turn and running, turn only or turn, running and stop?

You will need a resistor to make the indicators work properly.

I would be inclined to get a 12 volt battery and test the light off the bike to work out how the led needs to be wired to work.

Do you have a wiring diagram for your bike?

You can get it from here https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson.com/sip/index

Your LED lights are the issue as they are not providing the required resistance for your TSSM/ESM to recognize the voltage/amps in that part of the electrical system is working correctly.

Contact the company that you purchased the LEDs from and ask them how to correct the issue.

That doesn't explain why the running lights aren't working though.
