You don't re-use any gaskets. Some do outer primary, but that's it. Results may vary. Buy good not cheap crap gaskets. The cheap will become the expensive!

Well, I'd suspect you probably should change it, even if it's a PITA. Otherwise, you just know if you don't it will start leaking. My front one has seeped a bit for years, nothing a quick wipe with a rag won't take care of. If I ever decided to change it, might as well toss on a 1275 kit since the jugs are off already. I'd wait for a few more opinions for sure.

Ive pulled the heads several times with out replacing the base gaskets with no issues. Think how many times hammer pulls and replaces the heads while testing without changing the base gaskets. They even re use the head gaskets till the finish starts to wear. But there are some that are **** and will change every thing if they are going in. Do what you feel is best for you.

I would say if you feel that the base gasket has broken its seal from the cylinder in the process of what you are doing then yes. If you dont think you moved it enough to break the seal it has made then you should be good to go. One trick is small PVC pipe sliped over the two cylinder studs a washer and nut to keep down ward pressure so as to not break the seal.

I had to head gaskets replaced under warranty, in the dealership replaced the base gaskets as well, I don’t know if that tells you anything, but if it were me I would change them as well
