EDIT: Jiffy safety switch is on HDI bikes only according to the manual.

How exactly did you bypass the clutch safety switch? Did you check if the switch is normally open so you shorted the wires together or is the switch normally closed so you just cut the switch out?

Let's assume the JSS is faulty on a domestic bike that shouldn't actually have one. The only way to bypass it is to turn off the feature in the ECM. It is a hall effect switch with three wires, ground, 5 volts and signal. What are you going to connect to what?

i took off the switch, pushed the actuator button through and wired the two inputs together, effectively making it always on so that clutch lever has no consequence for starting

The one that it is annoying as hell to always put it in neutral, especially if on a hill when neutral is hard to find sometimes, but more than anything on both my other bikes I have removed sidestand and clutch safety switches so I'm used to that being a non-issue. Didn't realize that it was that much of an annoyance till I got this bike.

As far as the clutch goes my Magura hydraulic clutch lever was not designed to hit that actuator so regardless of the annoyance factor I had to disconnect it so that I could start the bike. This is the reason Magura says they don't sell them for Sportsters anymore. Think it's CYA on their part. Only a small McGyver fix though for the benefits of the hydraulic clutch. All my bikes have one. They're awesome.
