Quick disconnect leaking
Now you can get the old O-ring out with a dental pick. Better get your wife to hold the flash light while you hold the mirror and pick. Be prepared to Fume a lot. Good luck trying to get the new one in place while you almost upside looking at everything backwards.
Do yourself a big favor and just remove the fuel tank. I only drained it part way. Now the whole nasty job took two minutes. Why to minutes? I needed to chug a beer first.
Forget about the pos $95.00 dollar tool. Forget about trying mirrors and flashlights. Take off the tank, turn it over and simply push the new o-ring in a nut driver.
Harley is just out of line with telling folks you have to replace the whole valve assembly. To do that you must remove the fuel tank, and remove the fuel pump assembly. Then replace a big gasket, and hope you have not messed anything up the fuel pump assembly, filters and gaskets.
By the way the singles-ring cost 44 cents including shipping and tax. Only 2 cents not including shipping and tax.
Have fun and stop paying the Harley Tax
As I have had the fuel pump out of the 2008 and didn't change the gasket with no ill effects I think you are being a bit dramatic.
I could get a valve quicker than I could get the o-rings and I think I messed up the valve blowing out its innards trying to start the bike with the fuel pipe disconnected.
